The techniques presented in the previous sections covering layered and chained styles will allow you to create very complex styles. Insert a Random Painter as a first style and connect the first style to Layer#1. It will be highlighted in orange

When connecting the second filter or style , decide whether to create a new layer above or beneath the previously created Layer#1. In the first case, we connect the Sketch filter above Layer #1. You can create as many layers as you want by connecting a style, or even a single filter node, as many times as you want. Blend the Layers.

You can insert as many styles and filters as you want, in parallel or chained and blend the layers if necessary. In our exemple, we have inserted an Emboss in the lower layer after the Random Painter, and a Map to Palette filter which has been connected between the two already existing layers, to create #Layer 2. Add a Palette generator and link its Palette output pin to the Map to Palette's Palette input pin.
Note: The Input pin and the Output pin have to be the same color in order to connect them. (See 3.3 "Output and Input Pins" to learn more about pins).

To have a clearer view of the filters, click the Auto Arrange button. Your filters and styles will be re-arranged and organized so you can follow your pins and connections better.

Switch back to Compositing view to see the result: the layer in the middle will be shown as a Complex Filter.
