3.2.2.1 Introduction
The Style Editor is a schematic node-based editor that allows you to precisely configure and edit a style with the assistance of interactive tools known as filter nodes*. With the Style Editor you can create, edit, and modify the internal structure and connecting points of your styles to customize them for your needs.
Note: *Filter node = also said node, is a construction element in the Style Editor having a built-in or user-created style integrated. Each node has one or more Input pins and only one Output pin.
3.2.2.2 Create a Style in the Style Editor (chained styles)
Load an image as described in section 1.2 Open an Image and Apply a Random Style. Change the workspace from the Compositing viewport to the Style Editor and open the Style Browser on the right. Select a style (E.g. Building Blocks/Simple Styles/Random Painter). Drag and drop this style into the Style Editor workspace or double-click it, and it will be automatically inserted in the workspace.

A filter node will appear. Select a second style from Style Browser and drag and drop it into the Style Editor workspace, then repeat the action with a third style/filter. We have used Random Painter, Texturizer and a Bightness/Contrast at the end. This will be the order in which we will connect the filters.

It is now necessary to connect the Image Source's Output pin to the Image Input pin of the first style/filter node (e.g. "Random Painter") by drawing an arrow . The Input pin will be highlighted. Then, link the Random Painter's Output pin to the next filter's Input pin (e.g. "Texturizer") and the Texturizer by drawing a third arrow from its Output pin to the third filter's Input pin (e.g. "Brightness/Contrast").
Note: The quantity of inserted filters/styles, and the order in which you decide to connect the Filters is up to you. The first filter that you connect to can even be the last style that you dropped into the Editor, if you are one of those who like to gather everything together first and drop them into the workspace.

When the Filters are linked, their thumbnails show how they affect the Image. Connect the last filter's Output pin to Layer#1. The area will be highlighted.

Switch to the Properties+Preview pane and personalize the style by dragging the slider of each filter node, to the value that best fits the desired style for your picture.

You can also change the brush family by clicking the Browse button next to the brush thumbnail in the Properties+Preview pane:

And the Result will be:

To have a clearer view of the filters, click the Auto Arrange button. Your filters and styles will be re-arranged and organized so you can follow your pins and connections better.

Switch back to the Compositing view to see the result and save your work.
