1.3.1    Adjust the Style’s properties

Note: Since the Basic Edition does not have the Object Browser, Basic Edition users should click the image in the main image area for adjusting the source image properties. This method also works with the other editions, but if you have multiple overlapping images using the Object Browser might be the only method for selecting a source image in order to change its properties.

Applying a style (eg: Building Blocks/SImple Styles/Random Painter) to your image may require an adjustment to its properties to best fit your picture. This may include properties such as brush types, brush sizes, line sizes, number of strokes, etc.

Select the layer (Random Painter) in the Layer Browser and switch to the “Properties + Preview” Pane. Move the various Property sliders to obtain the desired result. The preview picture renders in real time.

One of the most common customizations is to change the brush family: for this, click the Browse button and select from the Brushes that appear in the new window:

When you're done, click OK. The image renders with the new selected brush family.

Note: Some styles have no exported properties which make them not modifiable. In this case, in the Property+Preview pane you will see: “This style has no properties”.

1.3.2    Adjust the Object’s properties

Your resulting picture may still be too dark or too bright for your needs depending on the style that has been used. To adjust the image further, select the Object that has the applied style, and click the “Properties + Preview” pane.

Adjust the properties you want to change by dragging the sliders to the desired values. The preview and the final image render in real time.

It is always worth adjusting the Object properties after applying the style because the style itself may already contain filters that affect the pictures colors, brightness, luminosity, and/or gamma.  The resulting image may not have the desired effect if applied on an already manipulated object.

Select the Object and modify its properties by dragging the sliders. Raising the Gamma or the Contrast can give very interesting results just by a small change of some property. In the Preview pane, the Object will be updated and then the resulting image renders.
